Curiosity Often Leads To Trouble Students in Year 8 Art drew upon personal experiences to discuss a curious event which led them into trouble. They used their unique story to design a Mad Hatter's hat in the style of "Down The Rabbit Hole". - Hilary Breman

Observational Drawing Using teapots, students learned to site and apply tone to their drawings. Beginning with close observation to achieve proportion, they accurately measured and plotted before proceeding to the rendering techniques of hatching, scumbling and tonal graduation. The final outcome gives the illusion of a finished three-dimensional teapot.- Hilary Breman

Surrealist Collages
The Art Style that the Year 8 Art classes studied this year was Surrealism. One of the Surrealist artists’ favourite quotes was: "as beautiful as the chance encounter of a sewing machine and an umbrella on an operating table." Using this quote as inspiration and by studying artworks by Dali and Magritte, the students were encouraged to create a collage from magazines they found at home to create a Collage that was dreamlike, weird, unusual, unreal, illogical, surprising, freaky and fantastic! - Michelle Grant

Teacup Creatures Inspired by the image of the dormouse sitting in the teapot in Alice in Wonderland, the students created their own surreal sculpture of an animal, mythical or real, perching in a teacup. The students sourced a teacup from home and used the non-fired Magiclay to sculpt their animal. - Michelle Grant
